Volunteers are needed for the third annual Provincetown Book Festival, scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 14 – 16.

Volunteers act as “ambassadors” for visiting authors, take tickets, welcome audience members, and sell merchandise. Volunteers also run the mammoth Provincetown Library Book Sale on Sunday, September 16.

There is a special need for able-bodied volunteers to help set up and break down tables and chairs for the Rose Dorothea Award, a ceremony honoring Wellfleet writer Marge Piercy on Friday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m., and again for “Authors al Fresco,” an all-day outdoor event on Saturday, September 15.

The Provincetown Book Festival is three days of literary events for readers, writers, and book lovers of all kinds. All events are free and open to the public, sponsored by the Provincetown Public Library. Featured authors include fiction writers Amy Bloom, Curtis Sittenfeld, and J. Courtney Sullivan; National Book Award winner James Carroll; poet and memoirist Eileen Myles; and best-selling suspense writer Hank Phillippi Ryan. Special programs include a cooking demonstration by Chef Justin Chapple, guest chef on the Today Show, with commentary by beer and wine expert Tom Acitelli.
