Barbara Sillery

As the author of four non-fiction books: The Haunting of Cape Cod and the Islands, The Haunting of Mississippi, The Haunting of Louisiana, and Biloxi Memories, I am now enjoying the challenge of writing two mystery novels: Ghosts Within and Ashes of Old Lovers.

I also continue to juggle a career as a television producer/writer/director. I have produced and written over three dozen television documentaries and features, as well as direct the four-hour live coverage of Mardi Gras for PBS station WYES-TV. Currently, I am writing a series of television features, Tricentennial Moments, for the city of New Orleans’ three-hundredth anniversary.

Along the way I acquired a B.A. in Theater and Speech, served a stint at New York’s Actor’s Equity Theatre, and earned credits towards a Master’s degree in Communications.  My career includes producing/directing trade show news programs, On-Air Promotion Director for a PBS station, and President of Lagniappe Media. My work has been honored with awards from: the American Association for State and Local History, Women in Communications, Press Club, Addys, Tellys, Houston International Worldfest, and the National Educational Telecommunications Association. I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Cape Cod Writers Center and the Falmouth Historical Society.

Words are my passion and the journey is awesome. Legends, myths, folklore and fakelore, I follow the clues to uncover the past. And if a ghost or two happens to wander by, it’s lagniappe−an intriguing bonus.
